Michelangelo’s David

Translating the complexity of the sculptural technique and the monumentality of David into a three-dimensional visual space. The project moves beyond the limits of traditional museum experience, making clear and understandable the geometric choices, the use of period tools and the handling of proportion and perspective devised by the master to dominate and shape the material.

A cinematic experience delivered as a Location-Based Experience (LBE), made up of a single continuous virtual reality (VR) piece. The use of headsets ensures total visual and spatial immersion thanks to a detailed 3D reconstruction, offering the audience a close-up viewpoint that would otherwise be inaccessible.

First-hand testimony and the secrets of the material: the first-person narration, guided by the voice of Michelangelo, reveals the intimate details of the creation, illustrating the complex sculptural technique, the choice of the marble block and the use of tools in a philologically rigorous and fascinating account.
Close-up perspective and philosophical depth: the experience offers an unprecedented and moving virtual face-to-face with David, presenting the sculpture as the supreme symbol of the Renaissance and visually celebrating the ideal of man at the centre of the cosmos, in his dual earthly and divine nature.
Territorial integration and institutional value: the format demonstrates strong cultural relevance by taking root in key centres of art and stone craftsmanship such as Florence and Pietrasanta, benefiting from the prestigious concession of the Ministry of Culture to guarantee an outstanding educational offering.
