Milano Time Explorer is a cultural journey that uses Virtual Reality (VR) to tell the story of the city’s historical and urban development through five immersive stops. The project offers an overall view linking its ancient origins to the contemporary metropolis, offering a unified narrative between past and present. The story moves through the key moments of Milan’s development: from the monumental architecture of the Roman era to the social fabric of the Middle Ages, through the Renaissance transformations linked to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci and the history of the Teatro alla Scala, concluding with the reconstruction of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II following the Second World War.
Telling the story of centuries of historical and urban stratification, moving beyond the fragmentation of traditional outreach models. The project aims to make visible historical scenes that have now disappeared or been profoundly transformed, offering an organic and coherent overall view of the city’s development.
A 90-minute urban walk divided into five strategic stops in Virtual Reality. Using headsets on location turns the classic walking tour into a tool for dynamic outreach, in which the guide’s narration blends seamlessly with three-dimensional digital reconstructions.
Understanding urban identity: The combination of documentary rigour and modern digital fruition offers a deep, immediate and scientifically accurate way of reading the city’s transformations.
Dynamic, interactive experience: Immersive technology changes the approach to historical outreach, reaching and engaging a broad audience ranging from tourists to school groups.
Preserving historical memory: The format brings together diverse eras and themes within a single journey, connecting the Roman era and the genius of Leonardo through to the post-war rebirth of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
